SCGA Senior Four Ball Final Results

Murrells Inlet, SC - First round leaders Vic Hannon of Camden and Bob Stringer of Blythewood posted a three under par score of 69 to take a two stroke victory over Stew Butler, Sr. (Orangeburg) and Jess Bryant (Hilton Head) in the SCGA Senior Four Ball Championship. The tournament was held over the 6436 yard par 72 Wachesaw Plantation Club Course.

Hannon and Stringer began the day tied with Butler and Bryant. Under blustery conditions, both teams matched scores through the first seven holes. Stringer recorded birdie at 8 to move one stroke ahead, but Butler answered with a birdie on 9 to move his team back into a tie.

Hannon’s birdie at 11 and Stringer’s at 14 moved the team two strokes in front of the challengers. A bogey on 15 by Hannon-Stringer cut the lead to one. A birdie by Butler on 16 evened the score with two holes to play. A par-birdie finish by Stringer and a bogey-par finish by Butler-Bryant provided the final margin.

Bobby Gause of Lexington and Doug King of Columbia used a final round of 69 to tie for third place with Joe Cunningham and Berry Crain of Aiken. Bill Higgins and Billy Stork of Columbia tied the team of Ron Callahan (Columbia) and Jamie Frazier (Winnsboro) for first flight honors after both teams posted three under 69s in the final round.

Bruce Swanson of North Charleston and Mo York from the Isle of Palms had the best round of the day for all flights. Their final round of 68 allowed them to recover from their first round score of 74 and tie for third in the first flight.
