Riddle Cruises to Victory

Brian Riddle from Saluda Valley Golf Club demonstrated how easy golf can be, provided you resolve to play a steady, error-free game for 18 holes. His low-gross 70 won the SCGA One-Day at Anderson April 27, and he never seemed to have long putts on the smallish greens. He had 17 pars and one birdie on the par-71 course, and was never in a struggle position. John Glenn from Anderson was one shot back at 71.

Ron Spivey from Anderson had a low-net 66 (74-8=66), winning in a playoff with Glenn. Glenn actually had net 65, but the maximum four-under course rating (70.0) rule brought on the tie. One of Glenn’s playing partners, Eric Richardson, had the "shot of the day" when his five-wood third shot, on the 575-yard fourth hole, from 205 yards out, went in the hole for eagle.
