Father Son Duo Take Titles

Michael Holtzclaw, playing out of Millstone Golf Club, and his Dad, Johnny, from the host club, turned the SCGA One-Day September 28 at Hunter’s Creek into a Father-Son event. Michael was medallist with a 73, and Johnny, playing from the Senior Tees and a reduced handicap of five, was low net in the 0-7 group with 74-5=69. Michael’s nearest competitor was Carter Harmon from The Greater Columbia Association who had a 75.

Other division winners were Bill Shelburn, Houndslake; Brad Livingston, Indian River, and Bruce Riddle, Saluda Valley. The consensus of the players was that the greens were in excellent condition, but very fast, and led to comments, such as, "we had a triple, a quad, and a quint in our group" on such and such a hole.
