Smith Takes Three Pines

From just a few players participating in SCGA One-Day events, only four or five years ago, Three Pines Golf Club has now become one of the top clubs in the state in percentage of participation. This fact was made clear when more than 60% of the field of 108, in the SCGA Regular One-Day at Three Pines November 16, came from the Three Pines membership. Low gross winner Scott Smith, with a 67, and low net winner Jimmy Thomas, with a net 66, both are Three Pines members, as were the leaders in each of four flights. Credit for this increase in participation, for the most part, goes to professional Todd Marshall, who has worked hard to educate the membership on this major benefit of SCGA membership.

Darrell Brown, a +1 handicapper, was only a shot back of Smith for low gross, but he did win the low net in the 0-7 group. Marvin Ross tied Jimmy Thomas for low net in the field, but was edged in the playoff. Donald Bryson was low net in the 17 and up group, scoring 86-17=69.
