Blankenburg Wins One Day

Pebble Creek in Greenville is becoming the "Home of the One-Day Champions", as Jeff Blankenburg made it two in a row for the club, scoring a 73 to win the SCGA Senior One-Day at Brookstone June 5. Jeff's playing partner, Dean Gosnell, won at Saluda Valley May 15, but "slumped" to a 76 this time. Bill Eisenman from Greenville Country Club was leader in the clubhouse at 74 until the last card of the day was turned in. Bill then fell to third net in his age group, after a card playoff with John Smith of Boscobel, and Barry Mitchell of Three Pines, all with net 67's.

Oren Sprouse from Rolling "S" was low net in the 55-64 age group, with a 79-13=66. James (J.O.) Padgett from Boscobel won the "old folks" flight, by scoring a 77 with 14 strokes, adjusted to a net 65.

Brookstone is located within sight of Interstate 85 in Anderson County, and with a new clubhouse and bent grass greens, the club in its second year as a One-Day host is growing in popularity with SCGA players.
