Hayes Claims First 2003 Victory

Randy Hayes, a member of the host club, Cobb’s Glen, got back in the win column for the first time in 2003, by posting a two-under 70 at the SCGA Senior One-Day on November 6. He was a multiple winner in ’02. This time, he hit all but two greens in regulation, and reached three of the par fives in two shots. Kevin Reid from Pebble Creek put on a rush by birdying the 10th, 12th, 13th, and 15th, but bogies on 14 and 18 cost him a tie for the top.

Bobby Jackson, from Three Pines, was low net in the 60 and over group, scoring 83-16=67. Hayes and Jackson were among the earlier starters, at a time when storm clouds still hung around, following early morning heavy rain. The skies cleared later, however, and all players finished in ideal conditions.
