Gosnell Prevails in One-Day

Dean Gosnell, from Pebble Creek in Greenville, hit his second shot to within 12 feet of the pin on the par five 18th, and his two-putt birdie was the difference in the SCGA Senior One-Day at Saluda Valley, on May 15th. His par 72 edged Joe Frye from Three Pines by one shot. Gosnell only recently entered the senior ranks, at age 55, while the "veteran"senior Frye now plays in the 70-plus age group.

Bobby Jackson from Three Pines had a net 65, along with Frye and Oran Sprouse from Rolling "S". Sam Misenheimer from Pebble Creek was also among the winners, with a net 67. Another Pebble Creek member, Dave Pfeiffer, was closest to the pin.

The predicted storms caused some cancellations, and the skies were cloudy, but real bad weather was a "no show". In fact some groups played a bonus extra nine.
