Five Teams Tied for Lead
Through wind and rain from tropical storm Fay, five teams managed to finish the
first round of the SCGA Mid Amateur Four Ball tied for the lead at seven under
par 65.
The five teams leading the way include Walter and TD Todd from Laurens, Mike
Gravley and Steve Liebler from Greer and Irmo, the father son team of Frank and
Cordes Ford, Columbia’s Jarrett Grimes and Chris Mitchell and Duff Wagner and
Stephen Kirven from Taylors.
Two shots back and very much in the hunt are the three teams Brennen King and
Chad Meldrum from Charleston and Aiken, Brad Krapfel and Robert Dargan of
Columbia and Brian Lott and Andy Gianoukos from Charleston and Summerville.
The final round will be played on Sunday starting at 7.30 a.m.
The 2008 SCGA Mid Amateur Four Ball Championship is being played on the par 72 –
6,686 yard Cotton Dike course at the Dataw Island Club. The field consists of 66
two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Mid
Amateur Four Ball Championship is one of 19 Major Championships conducted
annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
