Edwards is victorious in playoff

 
Doug Edwards of Easley pulled through for victory in a three-way chip off in the SCGA 40 Plus Event at Spring Valley Country Club. Edwards’ birdie on the par 3 sixteenth hole (his last) earned him a spot in the playoff with Tim Teaster of Columbia and Doug Hetzel of Summerville. All three players finished with rounds of two over par 74.

 

In the net division, Frank Finley of Laurens, Mike Robinson of Greenville, and Les Bradstreet of Columbia all tied for first place with net scores of 73.

 
The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for the “baby boomer” golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 78 players, playing on the 6452 yard Spring Valley Country Club in Columbia, SC. This event was the sixth of eight 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2008. The next 40 Plus event will be held on November 17th at Green Valley Country Club in Greenville, SC.
