After waiting through a two hour lightning and rain delay, Jacob Burger of Orangeburg, SC claimed low scorer honors after a course record final round of 67 and a two day total of 136.
Mark
Anderson of Beaufort and Patrick Reed of Augusta, GA tied for second at two
under par 142. Greenville native Lee Palms and Robert Dargan from
Blythewood, SC finished at even par 144.
Danny Simmerman from Nashville, TN needed a three hole playoff to defeat
Alan Lee from Chile for the final spot at one over par 145.
The US Amateur Qualifier was played on the 7,238 yard Dye Course at Colleton
River Plantation.
The U.S.
Amateur Championship will be played at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in
Pinehurst, NC, August 18-24.
