79th Annual SCGA Amateur
Championship
Columbia Country Club
Blythewood, SC
August 5-8, 2010
Ernst Roars to Lead
With Friday’s round being washed out due to weather and course conditions,
the Championship has been reduced to a 54 hole Championship and the final round
is setting up to be a showdown. Drew Ernst from Seneca shot the round of the
tournament with a seven under par 64 to soar to the top of the leader board with
a two day total of 132. First round leader Wesley Bryan shot an impressive
round of 66 to finish one shot behind at 133 and McCuen Elmore finished at 137
to make the final group of the final round.
The 21 year old Coastal Carolina golfer, Drew Ernst had eight birdies and one
bogey, including a back nine score of 31, en route to his seven under par 64.
Wesley Bryan had a bogey free round of 66 that started with a 31 of his own on
the front nine. With Clemson golfer McCuen Elmore in the final pairing and
making four birdies and an eagle of his own on Saturday, the final round pairing
of the three should produce some fireworks.
Tied for fourth is the second ranked player in the SCGA Player of the Year
points list, Brent Roof and the 2008 Amateur Champion Lee Palms.
In total 72 players made the cut at 150 or better and will be playing in the
final round on Sunday. Pairings are available here –
