3rd Annual Mixed Team Championship

Ray Arrants and his daughter Apryl of Bishopville, survived a shaky final hole bogey 6 to win the SCGA-WSCGA Mixed Team Championship played at South Carolina National Golf Club, November 4th & 5th.  The Arrants duo shot a first round one under par 70 in the four ball format.  The final round played in alternate shot competition found scores soaring.  The champions came into the final hole with a three shot lead but were forced to play their forth shot, which was embedded in a greenside bunker, away from the hole.  The younger Arrants responded with a miraculous chip shot and the elder Arrants saved the bogey with a 4 foot putt.  Their final round 75 was the lowerst round posted in the Championship Division.

In the Senior Division, Ben and Chris Shadoan of Taylors, continued their dominance for the second straight year.  The two low handicappers combined to shoot four under par for the tournament and won by a whopping 14 shots.  In the 1999 event, they won by 18 shots.

64 teams competed in the 3rd Annual event which has always been played at South Carolina National Golf Club.
