Bulls Bay Wins Lathrop Cup
Bulls Bay Golf Club, led by Professional Terry Florence and consisting of Bill
Smunk, Mo York and Joe Padgette claimed the 2nd Annual Lathrop Cup title at The
Windermere Club. The three man team’s score of 223 was good enough to win by one
shot and was highlighted by Bill Smunk’s 8 under round of 64.
The Golf Club of Star Fort captured the Pro-Am portion of the event by three
strokes with a score of 133. The Star Fort team consisted of Lewis Rollins,
Frank Williams, Dale Jones and was captained by Head Professional Tommy Pendley.
The 2009 SCGA Lathrop Cup was played on the par 72, Windermere Club in
Blythewood, SC. The field consisted of 22 teams playing in both the Lathrop Cup
and the Lathrop Cup Pro-Am. The Lathrop Cup is comprised of three amateurs over
the age of 55 to compete for the Senior Club Championship of South Carolina. The
Lathrop Cup is named after long time SCGA Executive Director Happ Lathrop and is
one of 19 Major Championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association.
