The 2009 WSCGA/SCGA Mixed Team Championship is being played on the Pete Dye designed Hampton Hall Club in Bluffton, S.C. The field consists of 96 man & woman teams playing a Best Ball format the first day and a Select Drive Alternate shot format the second day.
In the Championship Division after 36 holes, the first round leaders, Lea and Shawn Venable of Simpsonville, found themselves tied with Sara Younger and Steve Agazzi of Johns Island . Agazzi and Youngner used an even par round 72 to make up the 2 shot deficit that faced them entering the final round. With darkness looming, Agazzi and Youngner's par four on their first playoff hole gave them the Championship.
It was a particularly long day in the Senior Division. An 8:30 AM shotgun start completed Saturday’s round which was followed immediately with a 9:45AM shotgun start to begin the final round. The Bluffton husband and wife duo of John and Jennifer Adams met the challenges of the day by firing an alternate shot second round score of 71. That one under par score combined with their first round score of 68 gave them a 139 total and a seven shot victory over Kirk and Sybil Davis of Aiken and Ashley Rose and Bob Rickman of North Augusta.
