Roof brothers win
shootout at Players
Playing behind a number of teams making an early move on Sunday, first round
leaders Justin and Brent Roof prevailed in the final round of the SCGA Players
Four Ball Championship. The brother tandem posted a two day total of sixteen
under par 128 to claim a one shot victory over playing competitors Eddie Hargett
and Warren Thomas. The two teams battled throughout the round, matching each
other with seven under par 65s. In the end it was the one shot advantage that
the Roof brothers carried from the first round that made the difference.
Several teams made a move at the leaders early in Sunday’s round; posting low numbers for the final group to be wary of. Those teams include Josh Gallman (Gaffney) and Scott Glaze (Sumter), who shot seven under 65; Steven Lindsay (Greenville) and Walter Todd (Laurens), who shot six under 66; and Jarrett Grimes (Columbia) and Chris Mitchell (Prosperity) who shot five under 67.
The 25th Annual SCGA Players Four Ball Championship was played on the par 72, Columbia Country Club in Blythewood, S.C. The field consisted of 64 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Players Four Ball Championship is one of 18 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
