Two Teams share lead after First
Round
Jeryl Johnson and Mike Metz (Summerville) are tied for the lead with Tommy Ford
(Mt. Pleasant) and Frank Ford, III (Charleston) after the first round of the
SCGA Senior Better Ball. The Ford pair carded a bogey free round of 5 under par
67, while the Johnson / Metz team carded six birdies and one bogey en route to
their round of 67.
Three teams are just one shot out of the lead after shooting four under par 68.
Those teams include: Sandy Knapp and Keith Guise of Callawassie Island; Bob
Collar (Hilton Head) and Dave Hambly (Bluffton); and Bernie Shealy and Jim Wise
of Columbia. Three other teams stand two strokes back of the lead heading into
tomorrow’s final round.
The 35th Annual SCGA Senior
Better Ball Championship is being played on the par 72, Santee Cooper Country
Club in Santee, S.C. The field consists of 62 two-man teams playing Best Ball
format conducted over thirty six holes. The Senior Better Ball Championship is
one of 18 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf
Association.
