Wallace bests field on windy day at 40 Plus
Holley Wallace of Columbia posted a one over par score of 72 to take top honors
at the SCGA 40 Plus event held at Cobblestone Park Golf Club. Wallace’s steady
round was highlighted by an eagle 3 at the par 5 ninth hole. Byron Beck of
Marion recorded three birdies in his round en route to a score of three over par
74 and a second place finish. Three others tied for third place with 75.
In the net division, Thad Vincent of Charleston prevailed
with a net score of 66.
The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for the “baby boomer” golfers across
South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 64 players, playing
on the 6400 yard Cobblestone Park Golf Club in Blythewood, SC. This event was
the third of eight 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2009. The next 40
Plus event will be held on June 22nd at Green Valley Golf Club in
Greenville, SC.
