Local Team Takes the Lead

The local team of Darrell Connelly and Matt Laydon shot an eight under score of 62 to take a one shot lead over three other teams heading into the final round of the SCGA Mid Amateur Four Ball being held at the Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, SC.  

Laydon, a current member of Yeamans and Connelly, a former member, used their local knowledge to take advantage of the par 70 golf course.  The duo birdied the first six out of nine holes to shoot a staggering 29 on the front side and finished with all pars and two birdies on the back to shoot their round of 62.

Close on their heels at 63 are the father son team of Frank Ford, III and Cordes Ford, Tre Sheppard and Bill Smunk, also former members of Yeamans and the Honea Path team of Josh Branyon and Matt Davis.  Two time Defending Champions, Mike Gravley and Steve Liebler are five shots back at 67.  

The final round will begin at 8.00 a.m. Sunday morning with the leaders teeing off at 1.06 p.m.

The 2010 SCGA Mid Amateur Four Ball Championship is being played on the par 70 – 6,591 yard Seth Raynor designed Yeamans Hall course in Hanahan, SC.  The field consists of 64 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Mid Amateur Four Ball Championship is one of 19 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
