Fain & Johnson Take First Round Lead at Senior Four-Ball

Despite battling frigid temperatures during the early morning start of the first round of the SCGA Senior Four-Ball Championship, the team of Max Fain (Boiling Springs) and Yancey Johnson (Simpsonville) take control of the reigns heading into the final round of the 29th Annual SCGA Senior Four-Ball Championship after an opening round of 7 under par 63 at Camden Country Club in Camden, SC.

After beginning their opening round with a bogey on the first hole, the upstate duo would put together nine birdies, seven pars, and one additional bogey to ultimately propel themselves to a three-shot lead heading into the final round on Tuesday. Sitting in a three-way tie for second behind Fain & Johnson are the home club favorites and brother team of Chris Culler (Camden) & Wade Culler (Liberty Hill), the current 2021 SCGA Senior Four-Ball Champion team of Joe Hendrick (Chesterfield) & Daran Womack (Aiken), and The Reserve Golf Club member team of Robert Bogart (Pawleys Island) & Rich Weston (Pawleys Island).

The field will be split into three flights for the final round based on first round scores. 

The Final Round will begin Tuesday, March 29th at 8:00 AM with a double tee – double wave start. The leaders will tee off at 1:32 on the first tee.

The 2022 SCGA Senior Four Ball Championship is being played on the par 70 – 6,138 yard Donald Ross designed Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C. The field consists of 62 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty-six holes. The Senior Four Ball Championship is one of 21 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
