 Blue Skies Greet Players at Opening Round of Carolinas Net Amateur Championship

 Southern Pines, NC. - A brisk November day full of sunshine and blue skies greeted players for the first round of the 11th Annual Carolinas Net Amateur Championship at Southern Pines Golf Club.

After a brief frost delay this morning, David League (Travelers Rest, SC) and Steven Lee (West Columbia, SC) are tied for the lead in the Men’s Division heading into the final round after carding opening round net scores of even par 71.  Paul Baccellieri (Holly Springs, NC) leads the Senior Men’s Division with a net score of even par 71.  Charles Taubersmith (Pinehurst, NC) leads the Super Senior Men’s Division after a net score of one under par 70.

In the Women’s Division Natalie Martinho-Stansbury (Raleigh, NC) leads after the first round with a net score of four over par 75. Jamie McDevitt (Southern Pines, NC) leads in the Senior Women’s Division with a one under par 73. Libby Lewallen (Pinehurst, NC) leads the Super Senior Women's Division heading into the final round after an opening round net score of three over par 77.

The Carolinas Net Amateur Championship, hosted in collaboration with the Carolinas Golf Association, South Carolina Golf Association, and Women’s South Carolina Golf Association, consists of 36 holes of net stroke play using 100% of player’s course handicaps. Players are placed into flights within their division for the final round. The final round will begin at 8:00 AM as a single tee start off the 1st hole.
