Waldthausen Captures 40 Plus Victory at Wachesaw

Kurt Waldthausen of Simpsonville was victorious at the fourth SCGA 40 Plus Series event of 2021 that was contested at the Wachesaw Plantation Club, after a round of one over par 73. There was a three-way tie for second between Jon Mathias (Columbia), T.A. Fulmer (Charleston), and Phil Pfeiffer (Murrells Inlet) after each player shot respective gross scores of 75.

In the Tournament Net Division, Jeff McLain (Gilbert) captured the victory with a net score of 73.

In the Senior Gross Division, Chris Koon (Simpsonville) stood atop the leaderboard after an impressive one under par round of 71. Duff Wagner (Taylors) finished in second place after a round of even par 72 followed by Mike Caprio (Greer) in third with a 73.  

In the Senior Net Division, Dennis Guerriero (Lexington) won after a net total of 64.

Mike Calkins (Columbia) and Mike Robinson (Greenville) finished in a two-way tie in the Super Senior Gross Division after both players finished with even par rounds of 72.

In the Super Senior Net Division, Dick Olsen (Lexington) and John Baldea (Myrtle Beach) finished tied for first as both players finished with net totals of 73.

The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 93 players playing the Wachesaw Plantation Club in Murrells Inlet, SC. This event was the fourth of seven 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2021. The next 40 Plus event will be held on October 18th at The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, SC.
