Despite the impending forecast heading into the second round of the SCGA Junior Championship being bleak, the skies opened after brief periods of morning rain to allow sunshine and the completion of 36 holes.

Starting the day seven strokes behind the first round leader, Rowan Sullivan of Charleston fought his way to the top of the leaderboard carding a five-under par 66 to take the round two lead. After a slow start to the second round with a double on his third hole of the day, Sullivan rebounded to finish strong by firing eight birdies through his final 15 holes to catapult himself into the solo lead.

“Tomorrow if I putt like I did today I think I can win, but I just have to hit greens,” Sullivan said. “If I can play like I did today and hit greens, no one is going to beat me.”

Luke Sullivan of Columbia, Adam Hunt of Columbia and Major Lenning of Simpsonville all finished the day in a three-way tie for second after each finished with two-day totals of one under par 141.

Drew Harrill of Spartanburg finished his second round with a two-under par 69 and tournament total of even-par 142 to claim solo third heading into the final round.

65 players made the cut for the final round of the 63rd SCGA Junior Championship. The cut was based on the low 60 spots and ties after 36 holes.
