One hundred and forty-four of the top players in the state arrived at Forest Lake Club to compete in the 63rd Junior Championship.

Adam Hunt of Columbia finished the day four-under-par 67 to lead round one. Hunt carded six birdies and two bogeys in his opening round to hold a three shot lead over fellow Forest Lake Club Member, Luke Sullivan (Columbia).

“I putted well and didn’t hit too many fairways,” Hunt said. “I do think I have an advantage with this being my home course just because I didn’t necessarily hit it great today, but I was able to find the right spots.”

Luke Sullivan of Columbia stands at T2 carding a one-under 70.

Gene Zeigler of Florence, former SCJGA Jay Haas Player of the Year, finished the day at even par 71 to secure third on the leaderboard.

A continued partnership with the South Carolina Golf Association and Junior Golf Association and Foundation, the Heritage Classic Foundation is again the presenting sponsor of the Junior Championship, showcasing the best players across the state.
