Lutomski Captures 40 Plus Victory at First Event

Robert Lutomski of Simpsonville was able to claim top honors at his first over 40 event at the second SCGA 40 Plus Series event of 2021 that was contested at Holly Tree Country Club, after a round of three under par 69. Simpsonville’s Duane Barnes finished in second place after a round of 70 followed by Chris Eassy (Simpsonville) finishing in solo third place with an even par 72.

In the Tournament Net Division, there was a two-way tie for first place between Jake Dickens (Greenville) and David League (Travelers Rest) after both players shot a net score of two under par 70.  Claude Alexander (Central) finished in third with a net score of 71.

In the Senior Gross Division, David Collins (Columbia) captured the victory after a one over par round of 73. Allen Harris (Simpsonville) finished in second place with a total of 74 followed by Jeff Jaeggi (Simpsonville) with a tournament total of 75.

In the Senior Net Division, Jerry Sprouse (Greenwood) finished atop the leaderboard after a net score 70. Simpsonville’s Jim Justus finished just one shot behind Sprouse after a net round of 71. 

Mike Robinson (Greenville) took top gross honors in the Super Senior Gross Division after a round of 75. Terry Willis (Greenville) and Leonard Fletcher (Edisto Island) finished tied in second place after rounds of 76. In the Super Senior Net Division, Robert Ruffolo (Simpsonville) claimed the top spot after a net round of even par 72.

The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 103 players playing Holly Tree Country Club in Simpsonville, SC. This event was the second of seven 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2021. The next 40 Plus event will be held on May 17th at Florence Country Club in Florence, SC.
