McMillan & Sill Lead After Opening Round at Forty Plus Finale

Teams across the state have gathered for the SCGA’s Forty Plus Finale at one of the lowcountry’s finest courses, the Daniel Island Club.

Josh McMillan (Boiling Springs) & Stan Sill (Spartanburg) currently lead the gross portion of the Tournament Division after the duo fired a seven under par round of 65. One shot behind the leaders are the teams of Doug Cottingham (Hopkins) & Dan Sullivan (Columbia) along with David Collins (Columbia) & John Obrien (Columbia) after both teams opened with rounds of 66.

In the Tournament Net Division, Andy Balao (Summerville) & Hank Sieling (Summerville) are atop the leaderboard with a net total of ten under par 62.

In the Senior Gross Division, Eddie Hargett (Taylors) and Fred Teale (Greenville) lead after an opening round score of seven under par 65. Two shots behind Hargett & Teale is the team of Patrick Maloney (Greenville) & Gary Upton (Simpsonville) after an opening round score of five under par 67.

In the Senior Net Division, Steve Broome (Daniel Island) & Fred Hyde (Mount Pleasant) are atop the leaderboard with a net total of seven under par 65.

The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The Forty Plus Finale is a two-day event being conducted on Monday and Tuesday at the Daniel Island Club in Daniel Island, SC. The Final Round will begin on Tuesday with a double tee start off of #1 & #10 tees beginning at 8:30 AM. This event is the final 40 Plus event the SCGA will conduct in 2020.

The SCGA, founded in 1929, is the governing body for amateur golf in South Carolina. As a non-profit organization, the SCGA’s purpose is to promote, preserve and serve the game of golf. Made up of more than 270 member clubs and more than 50,000 individual members, the SCGA annually conducts 21 SCGA statewide championships, 59 one-day contests, eight USGA qualifiers, seven 40-plus tournaments and six special events. Other Member services offered include GHIN – the USGA Handicap Computation System, Golf Genius Tournament Management Software System and support, Rules of Golf and Handicap education, USGA Course/Slope Ratings and Course measuring, Amateur Status information, the Palmetto Golfer Magazine and the SC Golf Hall of Fame. The SCGA also houses the offices of the SC Junior Golf Foundation and SC Junior Golf Association in a combined effort to support junior golf and grow the game’s initiatives.
