Final Match Set at SCGA Four-Ball Championship

CLINTON, SC   (May 27, 2023) – A cold and wet late May day greeted the eight teams that teed it up in the Quarterfinals Saturday morning in the 56th edition of the SCGA Four-Ball Championship being contested at Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, SC. 

 

In the Quarterfinal matches, Garland Ferrell (Greenville) & Robbie Biershenk (Boiling Springs) defeated the team of Michael Sims (Lexington) & Jay McAllister (Myrtle Beach) with a 3 & 2 victory. Robert Lutomski (Simpsonville) & Weston Bell (Piedmont) defeated the team of Connor Fahey (Greenville) & Ian Faulconer (Simpsonville) with a match result of 2 & 1. Jonathan Brazeal (Simpsonville) and partner Dane Burkhart (Aiken) would advance to the Semifinal round with a 3 & 1 victory over Lleyton Renner (Simpsonville) and Zander Briggs (Simpsonville). The last Quarterfinal match was won by Brad Sill (Spartanburg) & Marcus Grumbles (Columbia) over Jon Mathias (Columbia) & Cheney Connell (Blythewood) in 22 holes.

 

In the afternoon Semifinal matches, Garland Ferrell and Robbie Biershenk would go on to defeat Weston Bell and Robert Lutomski with a 5 & 4 victory. The second match of the Semifinals was won by Jonathan Brazeal & Dane Burkhart with a 3 & 2 victory over Marcus Grumbles & Brad Sill.

 

The final match featuring Ferrell & Biershenk versus Brazeal & Burkhart will begin Sunday morning at 9:00 am off the first tee.

The 2023 SCGA Four-Ball Championship is one of 21 major championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The event is being played on the 6,779 yard, par 72 golf course at Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, South Carolina.
