Five Advance from Dataw Island Club to 2023 U.S. Amateur

ST. HELENA ISLAND, SC - Andrew Swanson (Bluffton, SC), Jackson Buchanan (Dacula, GA), Max Dupree (Eatonton, GA), Ethan Paschal (Fayetteville, NC), and Jackson Byrd (St. Simons Island, GA) have all qualified at Dataw Island Club – Cotton Dike Course (6,849 yards, Par 72) on St. Helena Island, SC to play in the 2023 US Amateur Championship. Andrew Swanson and Jackson Buchanan were the qualifying co-medalists with a two-day total of ten under par 134.

The final qualifying spot and first alternate position was determined by a playoff between Rowan Sullivan (Charleston, SC) and Jackson Byrd. Byrd would birdie the second playoff hole to claim the final qualifying position. 

 

Sullivan will be the first alternate while Zach Reuland (Rock Hill, SC) will be the second alternate.

 

Fifty-six players started the final round for a chance to qualify for the 2023 US Amateur Championship that will be held at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado August 14 – 20, 2023. The field was cut to the low 40% of the starting field of 113 to play in the final round.

This USGA Qualifier was conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association on behalf of the Carolinas Golf Association and the United States Golf Association.
