Musgrove Mill Golf Club to Host 92nd SCGA Amateur Championship

COLUMBIA, SC (July 31, 2023) – The South Carolina Golf Association's 92nd Amateur Championship will take place at Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, SC, August 3-6, 2023. This week, 120 of the states top amateur golfers will compete for the 92nd SCGA Amateur title.

This year marks the third time Musgrove Mill Golf Club has hosted the Amateur Championship, previously hosting in 1994 and 2008. The Championship was first played in 1929 with W.C. Hale claiming the inaugural title. Zach Adams of Charleston won the 2022 Amateur at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach with a score of 279 (-9). Adams will return in 2023 to defend his title.

 

The 2023 SCGA Amateur Championship field is comprised of the top ranked golfers in South Carolina who either qualified for their position or earned an exemption based on previous accomplishments.

 

92nd SCGA Amateur Championship Format

 

·     72 holes of individual stroke play.

·     The field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes.

·     The lowest score for 72 holes of stroke play will determine the Champion.

 

The first round of the 92nd SCGA Amateur Championship begins Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 7:30 A.M. off #1 and #10.
