Two Teams Tied at the Top after the First Round of the 50th SCGA Senior Better-Ball

SANTEE, SC (Sept. 2, 2023) – Blue skies and sunshine greeted the players at the 50th Annual SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship held at Santee Cooper Country Club in Santee, SC.

At the end of the day, we were left with two teams tied at the top of the leaderboard after firing impressive bogey free rounds of six under par 66. Those two teams are Rich Rebholz (Johns Island) & Rich Weston (Pawleys Island), as well as Bob Edens (Columbia) & Mike Caprio (Greer).

 

Trailing right behind them are three teams who finished their opening round with a score of 5 under par 67. These teams include, our defending champions, Eddie Hargett (Blythewood) & Brad Krapfel (Columbia), Charlie Hall (Hilton Head Island) & Mike Poe (Hilton Head Island), and Brian Kennedy (Spartanburg) & Scott Smith (Woodruff).

 

The field will be split into four flights for Sunday’s final round based on first round scores. The final round will begin on Sunday as a 10:00 AM shotgun.

 

The 2023 SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship is being played at the par 72 – 6,369 yard Santee Cooper Country Club. The field consists of 51 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty-six holes. The Senior Better Ball Championship is in its 50th year of existence.
