The first round of the 2025 SCGA Four-Ball Championship brought sunny skies and strong play, with low scores setting the pace heading into round two of stroke play. 

Chase Cline (Chapin) and Harrison James (Chapin) finished the opening round at the top of the leaderboard at an impressive ten under par 62. 

Sitting alone in second is the duo of Jack Seward (Florence) and Jay Smith (Florence) after a round of seven under par 65.  

On a day that saw plenty of birdies, 27 of the 60 teams ended their day in red figures. Three teams find themselves tied for third. Garland Ferrell (Greenville) alongside Josh Branyon (Honea Path), Jack Crousore (Bluffton) alongside Jeep Patrick (Hilton Head), and the team of Walt Todd Jr. (Laurens) and Brandon Truesdale (Rock Hill) all shot opening rounds of six under par 66. Four teams sit in a tie for sixth after carding rounds of five under par 67. 

Sixty teams are vying for the 32 spots that qualify for the Match Play portion of the event that begins on Friday morning. 

The Second Round of Stroke Play Qualifying will begin Thursday morning at 8:00 AM off holes #1 and #10.

The 2025 SCGA Four-Ball Championship is one of 21 major championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The event is being played on the 6,779-yard, par 72 golf course at Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, South Carolina.
