Meares, Smith, and Hargett Emerge Victorious at Riverton Pointe Forty Plus

Whitten Meares of Charleston captured the win at the second Forty Plus Series event of the year after firing an even-par 72 at Riverton Pointe Golf & Country Club.

 

Meares was the only player in the Tournament Flight to shoot even par or better. Andy Mitchell of Greenville and Jonathan Mathias of Elgin rounded out the top three after posting 2-over-par 74s.

 

In the Tournament Net Division, Thomas Zeigler of Bamberg claimed the title with a 1-under-par 71. Andy Wood of Summerville finished second after carding an even-par 72.

 

In the Senior Gross Division, David Smith of Mount Pleasant earned top honors with the only under-par round in the division, a 2-under-par 70. Robert Bogart finished second with an even-par 72.

 

In the Senior Net Division, Gerry Pascale of Bluffton topped the leaderboard after posting an even-par 72.

 

Eddie Hargett of Okatie won the Super Senior Gross Division via scorecard playoff after shooting a 2-under-par 70. Ken Stevenson also shot 70 and finished second following the tiebreaker.

 

In the Super Senior Net Division, Gary Smith of Hilton Head Island finished first with a 2-over-par 74.

The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina over the age of 40. The field consisted of 75 players playing at Riverton Pointe Golf & Country Club in Hardeeville, SC.

 

This event was the second of eight 40+ Series events in 2026. The next two will take place on back-to-back days at River Golf Club and Aiken Golf Club, on March 16th and 17th.
