Starting the day with a six-shot deficit, the team of Luke Walmet (Mount Pleasant) and Sam McMillan (Daniel Island) fired a 10-under-par round of 62 to win the 50th edition of the SCGA Lefty-Righty Championship. The tandem carded a bogey-free, ten-birdie round to win by two strokes. Columbia’s side of Robert and David Dargan fired a final-round 70 to finish in second place at 12-under-par.
In the Lefthanders competition, Sam McMillan was the only player to play both rounds in under-par fashion, shooting 71 and 70 to finish at three-under-par. Robert Dargan finished in second place after rounds of 69 and 75 gave him an even-par finish overall.
In the Senior Lefty-Righty competition, Ron Clontz (Greer) and Ken Palmer (Anderson) stayed hot and shot the low round of the day once again. Rounds of 65 and 67 gave the side a 12-under-par total to win by four strokes. Jonathan Epps (McClellanville) and Robert Beilstein (North Charleston) finished in second place after finishing at eight-under-par.
In the Senior Lefthanders competition, Jonathan Epps held onto the lead he held after the first round and lifted the trophy after his second-round 75. Epps won by one shot over Stan Sill (Spartanburg).
