Stan Sill Claims Wire to Wire Victory at 64th Senior Championship

ORANGEBURG, SC (May 11, 2022) – Final round results of the 64th SCGA Senior Championship, hosted by Orangeburg Country Club in Orangeburg, SC on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Stan Sill of Spartanburg and Eddie Hargett of Blythewood needed a one hole sudden death playoff to ultimately determine the victor of the 2022 SCGA Senior Championship after both players finished with a three-day tournament total of even par-216. With already firing five birdies throughout the final round, Sill provide his sixth and most important birdie of the day in the playoff to secure the 64th SCGA Senior Champion title.

“I didn’t mess up too much today,” said Sill. “I stayed in it pretty much all day long, I got it done and I got lucky. I always stay calm, do the best I can, keep going and have some good breaks, which I had plenty of those. It always feels good to win a golf tournament and it feels wonderful to be the 64th SCGA Senior Champion.”

Hargett took home second place, after narrowly missing a promising birdie attempt in the playoff. He finished the day with a final round low score of three-under par 69.

Steve Liebler of Irmo and Richard Rebholz of Johns Island tied for third, each carding five-over par 221 overall for the tournament.

The 2022 SCGA Senior Championship was played on the par 72 - 6,334 yard course at Orangeburg Country Club in Orangeburg, SC. The starting field consisted of 105 players over the age of 55.
