Champions Crowned at Carolinas Net Amateur Championship

Southern Pines, NC – Champions have been crowned at the 2021 Carolinas Net Amateur Championship as cool temperatures challenged players for a second straight day. In the end, it was a great two days of golf and camaraderie for the 90 participants from all parts of the Carolinas.

Steven Lee (West Columbia, SC) captured the Men’s Division with a net tournament total of even par 142. Paul Baccellieri (Holly Springs, NC) won the Senior Men’s Division with a two-day net total of two over par 144. Charles Taubersmith (Pinehurst, NC) was victorious in the Super Senior Men’s Division with a net tournament total of one over par 143.

In the Women’s Division Natalie Martinho-Stansbury (Raleigh, NC) was victorious for the second straight year after a three-hole net aggregate playoff with Jenny Kitchen (Pinehurst, NC). Natalie and Jenny both finished with two-day net totals of 163. Tammy Johnson (Taylorsville, NC) captured the title in the Senior Women’s Division with a tournament net total of two under par 146. Libby Lewallen (Pinehurst, NC) captured a wire-to-wire victory in the Super Senior Women’s Division with a tournament net total of seven over par 155.

The Carolinas Net Amateur Championship, hosted in collaboration with the Carolinas Golf Association, South Carolina Golf Association, and Women’s South Carolina Golf Association, consisted of 36 holes of net stroke play using 100% of player’s course handicaps. Players were placed into flights within their division for the final round.
