21st Annual Senior Four Ball Championship
Palmer and Smunk Win In Playoff
With afternoon weather conditions a little better for the second round, scores tended to improve and Bill Smunk and Bill Palmer beat Mark Giles and Tom Fulmer in a 3 hole playoff to win the 21st SCGA Senior Four Ball Championship at the DeBordieu Club.
Palmer and Smunk began the day trailing Giles and Fulmer by 5 strokes heading into the final round. They consistently put together two birdies on each side, along with having a better ball bogey free round, to finish their final round with a 4 Under 68 which lead to their eventual playoff victory with a par on the third hole.
Winning the First Flight were James Glenn and Tim Pope at 145. Rich Agle and Gary Loebs took the top honors in the Second Flight with a score of 150.
The 2014 SCGA Senior Four Ball Championship was played on the par 72 – 6,276 yard DeBordieu Club course in Georgetown, S.C. The field consisted of 60 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Senior Four Ball Championship is one of 20 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
