Talley & Macolly hold off Dargans; Robert Dargan captures Ninth Lefty Title

First Round leaders Matt Talley and Tyler Macolly of Spartanburg held off the hard charging brother tandem of Robert and David Dargan (Columbia) to capture their second SCGA Lefty Righty Championship in four years. Following their first round 62 with a solid best ball score of five-under par 67 on Sunday, Talley and Macolly made just enough birdies to best the charging Dargan brothers, who fired their own ten-under par 62 in the final round. Defending champions, Ron Clontz (Greenville) and Todd Hendley (Greer) finished tied for third place with Cory Tonnsen and Justin Lyles of Columbia.

In individual stroke play competition, Robert Dargan captured his ninth SCGA Lefthanders Championship. Dargan followed up his first round 71 with a four-under par 68 on Sunday, besting Cory Tonnsen’s two day total of 140 by one shot. Dargan’s ninth victory in this event now ties him with WWE superstar Chris Jericho’s nine Intercontinental Championships.  

The 2014 SCGA Lefty Righty / Lefthanders Championship is one of 20 major championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The 38th Annual event was played on the 6,375 yard, par 72 golf course at Lake Marion Golf Club in Santee, SC.
