20th Annual Senior Four Ball Championship
Shealy & Odiorne Go Wire to Wire
With consecutive rounds of 66 and a tournament total of 132, Bernie Shealy & Walter Odiorne are the 2013 SCGA Senior Four Ball Champions. The Columbia Country Club members won with an impressive three shot victory over Bill Smunk & Bill Palmer who shot a tournament low, final round of 65. The highlight of the event for the winning team was upon hearing that they were tied for the lead after their 15th hole, the tandem rolled off birdies on holes 16, 17 & 18. This was their second day in a row with birdies on the final three holes.
In the First Flight, Byron Beck& Tom Randall scratched out a one shot victory over Gus Sylvan and TD Todd with a final score of 141. Randy Johnson and Joe Padgette managed their own one shot victory in the Second Flight after shooting 145 to defeat their nearest competitors.
The 2013 SCGA Senior Four Ball Championship was played on the par 72 – 6,416 yard Country Club of Lexington course in Lexington, SC. The field consisted of 55 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Senior Four Ball Championship is one of 19 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
