49th Four Ball Championship

Todd and Truesdale Survive for Win

21 year old Walt Todd and 22 year old Brandon Truesdale became SCGA Champions after defeating Chris Mitchell and Matt Laydon 1 Up in the final Match of the SCGA Four Ball Championship held at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six.

The college teammates got up to an early lead after Truesdale birdied holes #1 & #3 but a team bogey on hole #4 left the duo up one.  A Mitchell birdie on #7 and a Laydon birdie on #8 gave the Veteran team a one up lead until a Walt Todd birdie on #10 put the match back to square.  Laydon, having driven the par four #12 several times through the week, made an eagle the conventional way, knocking in a wedge from 107 yards to go back up one.  After birdies and pars from both teams on #13 & #14, both Mitchell and Laydon three putted the par three 15th to go back to even.  The match stayed even thru #16 until Truesdale made birdie on the par three 17 to take a one up lead that the young team would not relinquish.
