48th Annual Four Ball Championship

Moore & Sturgeon Capture Title

The youngest team in the field, Caulder Moore and Caleb Sturgeon, claimed the 2011 SCGA Four Ball Championship at The Carolina Country Club with a 5 & 4 victory over Will Ovenden and Brad Sill.

With both teams vying for their first SCGA Championship, the 19 year old Caulder Moore and 18 year old Caleb Sturgeon held steady on the first nine holes while opponents Ovenden and Sill struggled making 3 bogeys and falling to a 3 hole deficit at the turn. On the par four 11th Caulder Moore made birdie and was quickly followed by his partner Sturgeon’s birdie on the par three 12th to take a five up advantage. On the par five 13th, Moore tried to close the gap with a birdie to go back down four. Sturgeon however had other ideas of letting the match slip away as he holed his second shot on the par four 14th for eagle and took the 5 & 4 victory. The teams total age of 37 made them the youngest in the field of 60 teams.
