Sylvan-Liebler Heat Up for Mid-Am Victory
Greenville: Sparked by two Steve Liebler eagles, the team of Gus Sylvan and Steve Liebler, both of Columbia, shot a 9 under par 63 for a two day total of 127 which gave them a 4 shot victory in the South Carolina Golf Association’s Mid-Am 4 Ball. The Liebler / Sylvan team finished eagle, birdie to assure the win over 1997 Champions Frank Ford, III and Bert Atkinson of Charleston. Atkinson and Ford birdied five of their final six holes to force the fantastic finish by Liebler and Sylvan.
This SCGA Championship for players 30 and older was contested for the first time at Greenville Country Club’s Chanticleer Course. This is one of 16 majors, 85 one days and 5 USGA Qualifiers conducted by the SCGA.
