Midlands Duo Wins

Steve Pachol of Columbia and Greg Schachner of Elgin, combined back-to-back 69’s to finish six under par and win the 2005 Senior Four Ball Championship at the Furman University Golf Course.

Getting off to an early start, the Midlands duo began the round with birdies from Pachol at the par five 2nd and the par five 6th. After turning to the back nine at 2-under par, Pachol made his final birdie of the day on the par five 11th, before partner Schachner stepped up. Over the next seven holes, Schachner would record back-to-back birdies on the par three 14th and par five 15th. The only flaw in the round for Pachol and Schachner would be a pair of bogeys at both the par four 13th and 17th.

Pachol and Schachner’s two day total, gave them a one shot victory over the team of Bobby Gause of Lexington and Dan Pierce of Columbia. Defending Champions Buddy Brooks and Mike Emory, from Cheraw and Lake Wylie, finished the tournament with a two under par score of 140, highlighted by a second round score of 67, the low round of the tournament.

In the First Flight, local golfers, Carl Brock of Greer and Steve Dauber of Simpsonville, took home the win with a two day total of 145, leaving them at one over par for the tournament. And in the Second Flight, another team of locals, Mike Arms and Dallah Forrest of Greenville, finished in the lead at eight over par for the tournament. Full results follow.

The 12th Annual SCGA Senior Four Ball Championship was played on the par 72, Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, SC. The field consisted of 64 two man teams playing Four Ball Stroke Play. The Senior Four Ball Championship is one of 17 Major Championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association.
