Columbia Country Club Takes Home the Title

The Columbia Country Club trio of Robert Dargan, David Dargan, and Eddie Hargett teamed up to win the 2004 Trescott Championship with a two over par score 212. 2001 Champion, Holly Tree Country Club finished second, three strokes back.

The winning Trescott score of 212, based on the aggregate score of the three amateurs, consisted of two 69’s from Robert Dargan and Eddie Hargett along with a 74 from David Dargan. Columbia Country Club last won this event in 2000 when it was held at Yeaman’s Hall Club. That year’s team was made up of David Dupre, Brad Krapfel, and Robert Dargan.

In the Pro-Am portion of the event, which only counts the two low gross balls per hole for all four players, there was a tie for first at eleven under par. The teams from the Country Club of Lexington, led by Will Branham, and Hunter’s Creek Golf & CC, captained by Jason Allen, shot scores of 219. Joe Jackson led his team from Holly Tree Country Club into a third place finish in the Pro-Am.

The low round of the day, belonged to Vince Hatfield playing for the Hunter’s Creek Golf & C.C. team. The 17-year-old high school junior had nine hole scores of 34 – 29 for a total of 7 under par 63. Hatfield managed to birdie every hole on the back except for #10 and #17.

The 2004 SCGA Trescott Championship was played on the par 70, Camden Country Club in Camden, SC. The field consisted of 32 teams playing in both the Trescott Championship and the Pro-Am. The Trescott Championship is one of 17 Major Championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association and is in its 22nd year of existence.
